I love liberals, I really do, and without them my life would be much less entertaining. They constantly tell the public that Bush went to war in Iraq for the oil. If that is the case, I pose a question to you, why doesn't he just take the oil for the U.S. or Halliburton or whatever sinister group the black helicopter crowd on the left thinks is behind the invasion? The answer is, it's not about taking the oil.
If George W. Bush wanted to take control of the Middle East oil supply, he could do it tomorrow. Park the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Straits of Hormuz, tell OPEC that every third oil tanker that comes through the straight belongs to the U.S.
What could they do? What could the world do? There is not a Navy on this planet that could force that carrier task force out of the straight. None.
It would be the largest protection racquet in the history of the world.
If they want to ship through the pipelines to the Mediterranean, fine, we park another carrier in the straight of Gibraltar. Same toll.
The War in Iraq is not about taking over the Iraqi oil fields, just like the first gulf war was not about taking the Kuwaiti oil fields, which we could have done since we were there in 1991.
When liberals tell you about how bad America is, and about how we are the most destructive force in the world today, just laugh at them, I do.
The United States in the most benevolent super power the world has ever known. If we wanted to, the U.S. could take down and destroy any government in the world, with the exception of China. China will be the next country to take on the title of Super Power; they will be there within the two decades. Lets see how the Chinese use their power and influence. If you honestly believe that China would be a better global citizen than the United States, then you are an idiot of extraordinary stature.
This is not meant as a cheap shot, it is the truth. That kind of thinking is going to get us killed, on a wholesale scale.
By the way, check out HughHewitt for an excellent question by question breakdown of the debate.
