Rathergate just the set-up for a knockout blow to bush?

After a bit of googling, I came up with this story from Democrats.com. A dollar to a doughnut that Rather, or someone else in the MSM is sitting on the story of a guy that sold Bush cocaine back in1972. Now I'm sure this person will be completely credible, just like the memos, and will have come forward just in time to try to do the utmost damage to the President.

Rather, could start with - "Tonight we may have found the reason why then Lt. Bush did not show up for his required physical in 1972. Tonight's story is about a reluctant witness that has come forward with remarkable information about the President's use of cocaine while he was in the Texas Air National guard."

I am of the opinion, if Rather had actual notarized memos saying exactly what the fake documents allege, George Bush would not lose two points in the polls. His base doesn't care, the swing voters care very little, looking at the latest poll results. Love him or hate him, you know just what you are getting with George W Bush. If Bush used cocaine when he was a young man, I don't think that changes who he is today, or who he has been as commander in chief for the past four years. He is a know quantity. I know people who used cocaine in their twenties, it was not hard to find even in a small town. Does that disqualify them from changing, growing into people that do a tremendous service to our City or County or State or Country? I hope not.

I just can't understand why Rather and the gang at CBS are hanging on to this story so tight. I have to believe that this is the set-up jab for a knockout left hook coming down the road. Were the Rathergate memos were just to pave the way for the cu de gras?

I could be wrong, Rather could be just a egocentric leftwing blow-hard that cannot face up to the fact he wanted to believe so bad, he could not see the truth. Either way, he should go in for a CT scan this week so he can find a medical condition to give him a way to retire gracefully.
